Fremont Creative District:

De Libertas Quirkas—Freedom to be Peculiar, and Where Creativity is Limitless!

Who We Are

The proposed Fremont Creative District is a geographic area dedicated to celebrating, sustaining, and enhancing the unique, artistic spirit of The Center of the Universe. As a five-organization partnership, we strive to promote a welcoming, funky, unifying and vibrant community that preserves the creative identity of Fremont, fosters economic vitality and innovation, and invests in Fremont’s rich cultural history as a place to live and work.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting Fremont’s creative, cultural, and economic vitality while pursuing ArtsWA certification of Fremont as a Washington Creative District.

Vision

We envision a future where Fremont thrives as the creative hub of the universe, beaming with history, art, innovation, and quirk.

Mission

Fremont Creative District (FCD) celebrates, preserves, and enhances the unique artistic spirit of the “Center of the Universe” by investing in Fremont’s local creative economy, and expanding opportunities for creativity, expression, and innovation.

Priorities

  • Celebrating Fremont’s funky, artistic spirit.

  • Preserving our public art, playful landmarks, and cultural spaces.

  • Investing in a new art and a regenerative creative economy.

  • Connecting artists, residents, businesses, visitors, and organizations.

  • Inviting all into a safe, accessible, and playful environment where people are free to be peculiar (de libertas quirkas).

Projects

  1. ArtsWA Certification – Securing Washington State Certified Creative District designation for a walkable, creative-centered area of Fremont. This recognition will leverage statewide visibility, resources, and funding to support creative projects within the certified district.

  2. Fremont Art Walk – Reviving the Fremont Art Walk as a monthly celebration of local artists, venues, and creative expression

  3. Pop-Up Galleries - Transforming vacant spaces into temporary galleries that showcase local art and bring energy to underused buildings.

  4. Public Art – Expanding public art in Fremont through murals, street painting, and other imaginative installations.
