FCD Projects in Fremont

Fremont Window Mural Project

In June 2026, the FCD put out a Call to Artists to paint murals on the windows of the empty building at the NE corner of Fremont Avenue N and N 34th St—the south entrance to Fremont from the Fremont Bridge. The artists had 4 days to apply and, if chosen, 4 days to design and paint their murals. In spite of this very tight timeframe, we got 47 fantastic applications! With difficulty, seven artists were chosen and produced fabulous, quirky, murals highlighting Fremont, the solstice, and the FIFA World Cup soccer games hosted in Seattle, all in time for Fremont’s annual Solstice Celebration Weekend!

Thanks to the Toba Group for permission to enliven a major corner of Fremont.❤️

Fremont Community Mural

In November, 2025, the Fremont Creative District, led by then Board President Lizz Slabaugh, had a booth at the Fremont Sunday Market. Graphic artist and FCD board member Maggie Butler designed this mural in outline on three 2’ x 4’ plywood panels. We invited market visitors to step into our booth and paint in any image they liked on the mural, and this is the result!

Our Community Mural has been installed at The Picklr and is currently on display at The Fremont Social.
